Interactive Online Sessions to help you design an impact for your city.

There are several things that make a city  - communities to live with, schools to learn from, offices to work at, markets to shop in. Spaces to play, collect, share, walk, cycle, discover. Spaces to breathe.

What’s crucial to these spaces are the people who occupy them - people such as yourself. And no matter where you come from, and what kind of space you seek - you have a right to your city.

With 'Young People Planning Places', you have the chance to learn, question and challenge yourself with concepts and scenarios that explore how cities grow, and how they can shape our futures. With sessions led by urban practitioners, this will help you address the Sustainable Development Goals as an active citizen, apply your learnings to solve real-world problems, participate in decision-making, and work to re-think a sustainable tomorrow.

This course is organised around four sessions of 90 minutes each, which will be conducted online over four consecutive weekends.

  • The first 70 minutes of each webinar will be interactive, with a presentation by City Sabha, and several off-screen activities. This will be followed by 20 minutes of open dialogue.

  • You will receive your personal 'City Log', a journal linked to the online sessions through explorative prompts, to keep you engaged and thinking.

  • We have also created ways to take the dialogue beyond these 90-minute sessions.

[Session 1] The Sound of Cities

    [Session 2]  Place-Making and Peace-Keeping

[Session 3] The Fundamentals of Rights

    [Session 4] Building a Change-Maker

Why is this important?

At a time when we are surrounded by so many distractions and restraints, it's difficult to engage in change-making. Yet, as global challenges of public health, climate change, and mass migration keep reminding us - there is no better time to start. We hope to leave you feeling represented, challenged, curious, and with a sense of belonging to your city.

  • The sessions will be led by Saleha Sapra and Riddhi Batra. Find their profiles here.

We believe…

That places are best planned by people.

That young people can lead our futures.

That change starts with you.
